Tee Time + Trailrides: Sierra Golfer Tour

“Yoga and golf are the only two things that I actually turn my brain off for,” said a recent visitor to Greenhorn. She said it after realizing horseback accomplished the same purpose for her in an unexpected way.

“You have to pay attention to what you’re doing, you can’t just operate on autopilot and let your monkey mind go.”

We love horseback riding. It’s in our blood. From the moment we get in the saddle to the end of a ride, every bit of the experience is meditation for us. Golfers have a similar experience and we can appreciate the like-minded spirit of focusing on what’s in front of you, finding a way to get outside and tune in in a different way.

Greenhorn Ranch is 20 minutes to world-renowned courses that draw top-notch golfers to Plumas County. Prestigious and periodic golfers alike can have fun exploring nearby Nakoma Resort, Gaeagle Meadows, Plumas Pines, Whitehawk Ranch, and Feather River Inn. We have rotating agreements with select resorts to provide resort rates. Let us help your ideal family and golf getaway. Here’s a sample of a 4-day golf-inclusive trip at the ranch:

DAY 1

Noon - Arrive at the Ranch. If you can, find Cynthia, a local gal and avid golfer who can help give you some immediate insight to the best courses nearby.

Settle into your lodge room or cabin and then join the other Greenhorns for lunch.

1:00 p.m Golf

Head just up the road to Plumas Pines Golf Resort for an afternoon tee time to get adjusted to the fresh mountain air. Voted "Top 5 Best Values In The Sierra Nevada” and “Top 4 Best Greens In The Sierra Nevada” by California Golf + Travel Magazine, we’re lucky to have Plumas so close to the resort. Take your time making it back to the ranch.

6:00 p.m Dinner

Make your way back to the ranch kitchen in time to join the wranglers and Greenhorns for dinner. Our seasoned chef is ready to accommodate your dietary needs. Every stay at the Greenhorn includes three meals per day.

7:30 p.m. Join us in the Saloon

Grab a long-awaited beer at the Saloon or try one of our signature cocktails and unwind before relaxing by the bonfire for s’mores under the stars.

DAY 2

7:00 a.m. Breakfast

Join us for breakfast in the kitchen before you set out for an early tee time at one of the other title courses nearby. Remember to wear sunscreen and wear layers. The fresh mountain air can be deceivingly cool and the high sun can creep up on you.

Enjoy lunch and a beverage at the 19th hole before you make your way back to the ranch for a poolside nap. Then, hurry to get your boots on for the afternoon trail ride.

4:00 p.m. Trail Ride

Give your arms a rest and set out with our wranglers to enjoy a different view of the landscapes in Plumas County. We’ll take you on an hour long adventure through our thousands of miles of trail to show you some of the most spectacular views of the Lost Sierra.

5:00 p.m. Belly up to the Greenhorn Saloon

Belly up to the Greenhorn Saloon bar for a well-earned beer after your first double-day, California Ranch style. Enjoy the views and wander over to the kitchen for dinner with the rest of the crew.

Take an early night’s rest or join the late night action in the Saloon for karaoke and an evening dip in the pool to cap off an incredible action-packed day.

DAY 3

Sleep in!

Take a different approach today and get out on a trail ride for a different view of the ranch. Eat lunch and learn archery before your afternoon tee time at another nearby golf resort.
